Keeping Your Heart Healthy - Things Not To Do

The heart is the organ that circulates blood in the body, it gives pressure to the flow of blood. This organ is important in ensuring a long life.

The number of heart related diseases keeps rising because we are neglecting the things we are supposed to do while we keep doing things we really shouldn't do.

In this post I have highlighted 4 things we should stay away from to ensure we have a healthy heart and they are;

SMOKE
When we talk about smoking, most people think it is all about lighting a cigarette and dragging it in. As true as it is, there is also something called second hand smoke. This smoke constitutes larger damage than the former because as long as you are in that location you keep breathing it in.

Smoke whether from cigarettes or car fumes or burning clots your blood little by little and when this happens you have a very high risk of heart attack and stroke as it also speeds up your heart rate, raises your blood pressure and reduces the level of oxygen that gets to your heart.

This damage is not easily amended so the best thing to do is to stay away from smoke.
Smoking not only affects the heart but also blood vessels and other organs.

INACTIVITY
Being inactive affects not just the heart but the whole cardiovascular system which comprises of the heart, lungs and blood vessels. This system serves the purpose of trafficking blood and oxygen to all parts of the body.

The heart as an organ is a muscle and your inactivity causes it to weaken, this is something you cannot immediately notice because it takes time to show its symptoms.

With your inactivity, blood vessel thickens and the flexibility reduces, All these conditions combined might result in blood clot.

Blood clot blocks the vessels preventing the easy flow of blood which may cause heart attack if the clot occurs in the heart.

Let's curb this people, bounce on your feet, move around, lift the weight and get your heart healthy with a daily dose of exercise.

ALCOHOL
After a fit of anger with someone, bad day at the office, family problems etcetera you decide to drown in the bottle thinking you need to lift your mood. No doubt about lifting your mood but not with the bottle.

Most of us see getting drunk as a way of forgetting our problems, it isn't. That liquid in the bottle is a depressant drug in the guise of the name "ALCOHOL" as it slows down your brain which is why drunk people behave sluggish because the brain is not able to pass information to other parts of the body in its usual fast manner.

Alcohol and your heart are enemies because being a depressant allows it to also slow down your heart rate and your breathing. If the drinking continues it can result it high blood pressure which strains your heart muscle and can result in cardiovascular diseases.

If your breathing drops for a long time your body will not be able to get enough oxygen to the brain which result in the destruction of brain cells.

A word of advice; rather than indulge in the bottle do something fun to relieve the stress building in your body.

BODY FAT
WE keep talking about fat everyday yet most of us still don't watch what we take in. Take for example, four months ago you were size 8 mow you are size 10 and you are still on the same diet which means in four months time yow might be a size 12 or more.

This requires a lot of thought, fat doesn't just change your shape and stature, no, it affects your system.
Fat increases the risk of heart conditions like high blood pressure, increased cholesterol level etc if fat laces your organs it is enough to cause disruption in their functions. Fat can block blood vessels thereby increasing the risk of blood pressure imbalance and a host of other things. The accumulation of fat in the body might strain heart muscles, increase cholesterol level and in serious cases diabetes might develop.

Please people, try to reduce your fat intake because the risks highlighted above might shorten your life and put you in the hospital when you should be having fun.
